Warning signs

Alarm sound does not stop

3-2 Professonal advice

Various alarm functions are installed in the fume hood.

The most common is the alarm indicating irregularities in the operation of the exhaust fan.

If the motor of the exhaust fan is over-currented or an electric leak occurs, it stops operation and sounds an alarm.

Some of the newer products also monitor the exhaust airflow rate by air velocity and pressure, so if the exhaust airflow rate drops, it will set off an alarm.

In other cases, a unique alarm feature may be included in a meeting at the time of delivery.

The alarm function works when there is a problem with the operation or safety of the fume hood, so never turn off the alarm or leave it as it is.

3-1 Advice for
 Initial support/correspondence

Check the instruction manual of fume hood and check for countermeasures.

In cases where problems could not be resolved, consult with lab manager or the facility administrator, and ask an electric specialist or manufacturer for inspections and repairs.
