If you feel "Chemical smell!" or "This fume hood may not be venting?" when you activate the fume hood and start your experiment, stop the experiment immediately and check the cause.
 

• The exhaust fan is not functioning properly
• There is no adequate supply of air to the laboratory
• Heat source exhaust not performing effectively

Initial support/correspondance

 
Stop the experiment immediately if the exhaust air suction performance is insufficient.
 
Consult with the lab manager or the facility administrator, and if the fume food is not regularly inspected, request immediately for an inspection.
 
If a regular self inspection is being conducted, check where the defect is in the local exhaust system based on the report documents.
