4-3 Professional advice
Rust and debris can fall onto the work surface if the interior wall materials and ducting materials inside the fume hood have deteriorated with chemicals or if the ceiling components have rusted.
Moreover, when the gas or chemical used in the experiment reacts with each other or molecules in the air react, they may become particles and accumulate/deposit at the exhaust port of the fume hood and fall. Heated chemicals and water vapor may cool in the exhaust duct and condense where the liquid drops are then transmitted to the inner wall.

Initial support/correspondence
If this situation happens, there are some factors that can happen on a continuous basis.
Consult with laboratory managers and facility administrators, and an immediate request for inspection and repairs from the manufacturer is recommended.
In recent models of fume hoods, internal plates (called baffles) can be removed and replaced.
